Let's talk about periods and running. Specifically, the lack of running while on my period. I generally feel like death the first two days and it marginally gets better after that, but I want to run during my period instead of taking a one-week break every five weeks or so. I'm also extremely, extremely tired that week and I try to keep my iron levels up because of the bleeding.
Today was my first shot at that and it didn't go so well.

Whenever I have a fight with running, I find this picture of a letter written by a local boy in Minnesota to a RD of one of my favorite Spring Races called Zumbro. My daughter left for the TX State Championship XC Meet on Thursday. I made the 7 hour drive on Friday after watching my 8 year old in her 3rd grade play. This year I was really prepared for the trip before it crept up on me. I ordered books for the kids and I found these Saucony XC cleats on sale on Amazon for $21.99 before the race. I had another post started but things have changed. My 20 miler a week ago Saturday went great. Probably the most enjoyable 20 I’ve ever run. I got to run the whole thing with friends who each ran 6-8 miles with me so I had someone with me the whole time. The weather was cold and windy but felt good and I finished strong. In case anyone was wondering, I did cut back last week. I ran 20 miles last week, 4, 3, 3, 6, 4. I think it was the right choice because I definitely felt ready for more miles this week.

The past two weeks my right knee has started hurting, on the inside portion right at the top of the tibia . Hurt while walking and sensitive to the touch. Did some icing and Ibuprofen while hoping it was just an inflamed tendon or something while knowing all along the familiar symptoms were that of an unhappy meniscus . The same knee as my 2015 miniscus surgery. Today I go in for the MRI.

Tuesday- second ever completion of a 10k!! Was pretty consistent with last week's jog. 3 seconds faster on 5k, and 9 seconds on the 10k.

Here it is folks! Not only did I get the keys to my new house yesterday at 3 pm but then it snowed like mad all day today so I snapped a picture of the first snow and my house combined. I'm more in love with it every minute I'm there. I could "wax poetic" about my home.

I wasn't as sore as I expected to be from running the Cheyenne Mountain Run two Saturdays ago. I took the following Sunday off to rest and had a tempo scheduled for Monday, but decided to take another day off just to make sure.
Tuesday morning, I ran the 4 mile @ 8:50 tempo run but ran faster than that, and the run totaled 6 miles. I had no issues and felt pretty good. Since I had taken two rest days in a row, I decided to run 6 easy trail miles on Wednesday.
