RR: The 2020 Run Thru Hell

Well, done, Dave! I'm sure it was amazing to put a bib on and toe the line.
  2. Well done! The Leawood Labor Day 5K is happening, although can't tell if it's certified by the race website.

    I love Colorado.

Although I didn't enjoy living in Denver, I do love visiting it! Glad you had a good time.

    In a pandemic time warp

I can't remember the last time I posted. Was it March? April? I've been in a time warp since mid-March, so it's hard to remember anything anymore. I think the last monthly recap I did was February, so that's fun. Although my employer (local health department) is on the front lines of COVID, I can't say that I'm necessarily on those lines. The epidemiologists, disease investigators, and contact tracers are on those lines, as well as our environmental health folks, who have been tasked with enforcement of emergency orders. I sort of think of my colleagues as the offensive and defensive lin

    Odds and ends

I've been told by multiple sources that building & home improvement projects have gone through the roof since COVID. Guess staying home makes one really not like their house. Anyway, the point is, entirely possible HD is just out of the pickets.

    Joyful June

LOL your phone response. Mentally making a note of that one for when I have middle-schoolers. I'm so happy for you that you are back to running. I can feel your joy jumping out from this post!

    Five Days a Week

If the body is holding up, then why not?
  8. Here's to more running and less biking - although those Peloton classes are amazing, aren't they??
  9. Your cycling is impressive. My road bike has mostly sat in the garage for the past 4 years because 1) I'm not entirely comfortable on it and 2) cycling in Kansas City is very scary to me. I do love my spin bike, though and also enjoy the Peloton classes!

    Don't Drink and Blog

I needed a great read like this today. Thank you.

    Racing in a Costume

That last line had me giggling - thanks for that!
  12. OMG that finisher medal is amazing! Well done.

    Birthday Silliness

I totally would have come out and cheered you on, too. Happy Belated Birthday!
  14. Hopped over to read your PT post - it is amazing what those simple movements can do! I regularly miss PT just for those little things that keep my hip really happy.
  15. The second I opened this post, I remembered your job - and very glad to hear that you have stayed safe and healthy so far. This crisis has been stressful enough from a public health perspective, I can't imagine how you and your colleagues are feeling. I think we all are really really hoping that current measures are enough to stop the catastrophic spike, but New York doesn't paint a hopeful picture. Glad you are able to get out and run. I wanna scoop Tucker up and give him all kinds of love! My Jeffery would then be very jealous though.

    March Covid-19 Pikermi RR

I totally missed the boat with this month, but I'll plan to participate for April! Nice run, seems like lots of people had detours during their races.

    Virtual Racing

Maybe hills help build COVID-19 immunity. I will go with that.

    Life During Wartime

Our metro is under a stay-at-home order, but I still come into the office. The silver lining is traffic has been non-existent for the past week. Thanks for your due diligence in flattening the curve. Your resident public health official is very grateful.

    A Week of (Social) Distance

Why not a loop mini Olympics, and that lets everyone do a variety of distances and you don't have to calculate equivalent race times. On the track: 100, 200, 400, 800, 1 mile On the road: 5K 10K 13.1

Glad you had a good weekend in Atlanta! Surprised the expo was go-hum, but then again, sounded like most of the focus was on hosting trials athletes so maybe I shouldn’t be surprised? Hope you continue to feel better - those spring colds are no joke and I’m not even talking about coronavirus!

    Here's an Idea.

No, it's not on par with ebola, but we do expect that it is at least twice as deadly as a really bad flu season - and the potential overload to the health care system is the scary part. Also add that we know exactly how to deal with ebola, when to test for it, when to not test for it, and with this one, well, there's a lot we don't know. That's why public health officials are getting out of hand. Hopefully though, in time people will look back and say "What was all the fuss about?" <--- That. For you to ask that question. That is what all the fuss is about. That means we did our job correct
  22. I believe it! You always build so much strength and endurance during marathon training.
  23. That's a great tradition. The heart is supposed to look like two pieces of those BFF heart necklaces. It was the husband's idea, so I go with it.
