Hi There!

Apple Pie

Hi there!  Not sure exactly when the new Loop was created, but this is my first bloop, although I have sporadically read/commented on some of your bloops.  I really do enjoy reading what's going on in your running and non-running lives.

For those that I don't know, I've been around the Loop and attended a bunch of Loopfests in 2013, 2014, 2015 & 2016 (and was even a non-running teammate for a 100 mile Loopster relay this past summer), but my activity on the Loop slowed over the last year or two.  Partially because work kinda took over my life, but more because I was injured.  I sorta knew it in 2016, but had signed up early in the year for the epic Loopfest in Philly in November and so battled through some IT band & PF issues, which ended up with me more or less walking the last couple miles of the half marathon.  I took some time off, started up slow in February, but after a month of running 2-3 miles a couple times a week, I shut it down because I knew things still weren't right. Eventually, I started back up in August and sssslllllllloooooooooooowwwwwwwwwlllllllyyyyyyyy have got to a point where I'm running 3-5 miles 3X a week without any pain!

I finally feel the IT and PF are behind me, but since its the winter months, I'm really taking my time getting back up to where running a half marathon is not a monumental task.  I feel like 2018 is going to be a good year for me and would like to accomplish a couple halfs.  I was tempted to sign up for Rehoboth yesterday, but didn't.  I plan to go, but have plenty of time to assure myself I can.  I do have a St. Patrick's Day 10K on the schedule.  It's a huge one (like 7,000 people) and as a result, there's literally no way you can run a PR at this race.  Besides, the whole green, shamrock, Irish, beer-drinking aspect of the race makes it a ton of fun.  And every time I run in a kilt, I run with a huge smile.  Maybe I'll add one of those headbands with 2 dangly shamrocks on it. B|

Anyway, I just wanted to check in, say hi, and wish you all a happy new year!  Hopefully I'll catch up with some of you in person in 2018.

I made apple pie for a couple of friends over the holidays, and made sure there was enough for a third. Mine.

Go ahead and sign up for Rehoboth. It's not until December, for goodness sake.

If you're training in the winter, does that make your running a la mode?

Glad you're pain free, wishing you a healthy and fast 2018!

Good move.  Always make sure you leave yourself some apple pie!

Yes, I suppose it does make me a la mode.  :D

AP!  Glad to hear from you here.  It's great that the issues are behind you and coming back slowly is always the safest option.  Hopefully we see you at Rehoboth.
