So I haven’t been posting much this week. (I know, I know, I wasn’t posting for years before this) I had good reason though! Erika has been dealing with a lot lately and I decided to make her an elf hat for Christmas to cheer her up. So most of my free time was spent crocheting instead of blooping but the hat is coming out pretty well!
I have another few hats in the works, too. I’m thinking of making myself one in green and white with red trim. I thought it looked Christmasy but Erika pointed out that it’s also the Hungarian flag. 🤦🏻♀️
This morning I took these bad girls on their maiden voyage. They look really fast and felt pretty good. ASICS hasn’t made Nimbuses in fun colors in YEARS. I am hoping this will continue at least until I’m back in the swing of things.
Speaking of which, I signed up for a half marathon in April. I could have gone for the full but I decided to start trying to get back into training with a less overwhelming training plan and a less overwhelming distance.
Two years ago this past Tuesday I walked up to a little coffee shop and saw the cutest person I had ever seen in my life standing out front. She was wearing a burgundy hat and had the most amazing smile. I approached, thinking, “I hope that’s her. I hope that’s her! I hope that’s her!!” And was delighted when she said yes when I asked, “Are you Erika? I’m Elizabeth. It’s nice to finally meet you!”
Goddammit! I was quite happy with my reasonable ease-back-into-training-with-an-April-half plan but right after I posted this I received the following in an email from NYRR.
So now I guess I am running a March half, too! I mean, it’s right there in black and white - “eligible”! My hands are tied. I have no other choice!

I had things to add.
