Keep Running Girl

I had my cousins wedding on Friday night. It was the first real event I’ve been to since before the pandemic started. Everyone had to show proof of vaccination or a negative test to attend and it felt almost normal.

The event was at an aquarium so maybe normal isn’t the right word.67FF9E60-BFEC-4F14-948F-01131D3B06DE.thumb.jpeg.a2555ae95fd5da53f504525ef33235ce.jpeg9895BE60-F068-4136-AA0F-5B2720FBB671.thumb.jpeg.85d848c088290173cc0b83b5f61ab4fd.jpeg

It was also the first time Erika met my extended family and she seemed to take it in stride. Or at least she hasn’t run away screaming yet. Actually, now that I think about it, it’s a little unsettling how well she seemed to get along with these people…

Saturday I had the worst hangover of my life!  Maybe. Possibly.  It was bad.  I was sick.  Erika woke up with a bad cold (not covid) so the two hour drive home was rough and then we spent the rest of the day dying on the couch.

Sunday, I woke up still feeling like death but slightly better.  I tried to take her to the doctor but someone had smashed my sideview mirror and I was too scared to drive.  DA08D634-D19B-42E1-A145-147D95F65FAD.thumb.jpeg.b457594ff5fb86006bbf8a39b8f12f9a.jpeg069558DA-170A-4FC5-8E2B-756CB4728BC7.thumb.jpeg.61fecffb4f412bea5157e2a3dc498879.jpeg

I often complain about missing the old New York but sometimes I remember how it was and I am cured of my pining.

Sunday night I remembered that I used to call myself a runner and I decided to go out for three miles.  Just three miles.  I could do three miles, right?  I mean, it would be slow and I would feel sorry for myself but I would still feel better about going, right?

Oops.  Wound up being four of the best miles I’ve run in months. Were they any faster?  Nope.  Were they any easier?  Also nope.  But for some reason they just felt damn good and I wanted to keep going.

I think I am almost giddy to run again tonight.

What were you up to?

you say this like you expect me to 'fess up about the rear-view mirror I may or may not have accidentally bumped into. Mostly I'm baffled by the Nemo theme. Although you kids clean up real nice, as the old people say.

And over the weekend I discovered Badly Drawn LInes, the greatest comic strip ever drawn except for Calvin and maybe Pearls, although I'm negating that one because of the pending Pastis lawsuit.

Changing brakes on two different cars. You know how much I love auto repair. Ran two miles. I thought it was ok. My hip/ITB thought it was terrible.

Thanks!  I thought we looked quite spiffy myself!  I was worried we’d gone completely feral during the pandemic.

Ooh! I’ll check it out! (Although I am worried that you didn’t even mention the Far Side.)

If you could swing by and fix my mirror, that would be great. :)

Sorry about the ITB :(

I was thinking when I read about the pain on the crest of your hip, I get that when my lower back is starting to go.  Maybe some cat/cows will help?

What a fun venue! I love it! You guys look great!

Night running is just the best! I feel like in the dark there is nothing that can be judged. IDK why. Just feels more serene.

Thanks!!

It is really nice! When I started running, I ran at night and loved it.  But then I switched to mornings and loved it. Now I am thinking of switching back with my current schedule 🤔

Sometimes I miss my night or early morning dark runs. But I decided I like seeing where I'm going more.

You and Erika both look fab. And happy. Yay.

Running in the dark is not recommended for the geriatric team so enjoy it while you're young!

Thank you!!  🥰🥰🥰

Around where I am, there is so much light pollution that it’s never dark-dark.  Just dark but I can still see my footing and such.
